Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Review
I think I’m a bit late to the game. When this blush first came out, I watched so many video reviews on other beauty influencers on their thoughts on this brand and blush. Rare beauty had just launched and this seemed to be the star product. Everyone had the same thought though – beautiful, long lasting blush, but pretty tricky to use because it was extremely pigmented and if you added too much, you would risk looking clownish and you better blend it in quick, because it set quick! With this being during 2020 (the year my makeup use drastically dropped), I held off on investing in this blush.
Fast forward to 2023 – I’m finally ready to get back into it and I FINALLY decided to try this blush.
What triggered me to try it?
It has been 3 years since this blush launched, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from praising it in so many makeup routines on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. So one day there was a video swatching some limited edition shades, Worth and Virtue.
My oh my, I saw Worth swatched on someone of a lighter skin tone, but it was so beautiful and with my personal judgement, I immediately purchased it on Sephora.com. At the time everyone was so preoccupied with the new Rare Beauty lip oils, and must have not even paid attention to these new shades launched. This was the perfect time to grab them, because shortly after (I would say weeks later), Worth was SOLD OUT and continues to be sold out to this day (5 months later)!

Now, what are my thoughts on this blush formulation, packaging, application and shade?
Packaging
Beautiful packaging. When this first came out, everyone thought that the round top was designed to be accessible to those that have problems opening twist tops. Since Selena Gomez is known to have similar issues because of her Lupus, this was a logical thought. I learned that it was more of an aesthetic choice and this was such a subtle detail that has made Rare Beauty so identifiable as a brand, making it an iconic detail.
The glazed glass packaging is also a nice touch with the gold ‘rare beauty’ embossed text: also iconic.
Did you know there’s a heart on the blush wand? That was a new detail I just discovered.
Selena and her team really thought their brand through and the people love it!
Formulation
Beautiful formulation. It is very pigmented, but as long as you only apply one dot on each cheek, that’s enough for my preference. It’s a beautiful shade and I think it quite natural and flattering with my skin tone, which is medium-deep. As opposed to other blushes, it stays put all day, and applies evenly, not looking patchy at all. To see how I choose to apply it, read on (or jump to the Application section)!
Shade
Beautiful shade. This was the main reason I purchased this blush! So I had high expectations of it in this category and it has ended up being my favourite pink shade blush I currently own! It was a gorgeous summer shade and I will continue wearing it all year long because it’s a really perfect natural blush shade for my medium-deep complexion! Rare beauty – please make this a permanent shade because I’m not sure what I will do when I’m done with it. I can’t remember the last time I finished any blush product, but I believe I just may with this one!
Application
I know many people apply the blush on the back of their hand, and then pick some up using a brush to apply, but this is what I’ve done:
1. Place one light dot on each cheek.
2. Use a tapered brush to blend out the blush across the apples of my cheeks, cheekbones, and a bit of the excess on the bridge of my nose.
3. I take a damp beauty blender and blend out any intensity to tone it down if it ends up being too intense. The pigmentation of this is no joke.
If you like a light blush application, you may be better off applying it on your hand first and then taking the amount you need on your brush, but if you like a nice rosy looking cheek, try my method!

Conclusion
The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush is just beautiful and if there’s a shade that has caught your eye, I highly recommend you try it out! If you ever see Worth come back in stock, do yourself a favour and don’t hesitate to add to cart! It’s a shade that I believe would look good on just about any skin tone!
