6 Steps to a Natural Eyebrow Routine for Dark Skin

I think most people know how much the right brows can change your face. They can make you look angry, younger, give you RBF or a permanent surprised look.

As someone who has gone through years getting my eyebrows waxed and threaded in all different shapes and thicknesses, I have learned the importance of how much the right brow can make you look your best or give you that permanent inquisitive look.

My current best eyebrow shape is one that looks much thicker than the brows I have, but also follows the natural shape I have!

Let me tell you,  if you have the right brows you don’t need much else on your face for your day to day, and that can give you a lot of confidence.

Here are the best tips to getting the most natural looking, full brows even if you don’t have much brows to begin with!

Tip 1:  Choose the right colour

This is just a suggestion, especially if you are someone of a medium to deep skin tone

Sometimes we think, since we are a dark skin tone that we should fill in our brows with the darkest brow pencil available.

Even if we have a deep dark black hair colour we may not need the darkest shade

Try out one shade down to that darkest shade. Instead of the ebony shade you always use, try reaching a dark brown shade!

It will give your face a much softer look!  If you dare to use two different shade, read on to see how you can elevate your eyebrow game with two shades !

Tip 2: Find that perfect brow shape

There are so many different brow shapes and there is no rule that you can follow to find it. What you can do is trial and error.

There are 30 days in a month, so try as many different shapes as you can! One a day!

You can start with following the natural shape of your brows. Play with the tail of the brows, the intensity of the application, the intensity of the arch, the thickness of the shape, etc.

Tip 3: Shading your brows

Now that you have the shape down, know how to fill the different sections of your brows.

1. The inner corner

The hairs in the inner corner are normally more sparse naturally. This is natural for most people and you don’t want to fill this area fully.

You may even find you don’t need to touch this area at all!

This will keep you brows looking natural!

2. The outer third

This part you can fill in with the darker shade, if you choose to try playing with two different eyebrow shades.

Using this dark shade throughout your entire brow will leave it feeling too harsh and for an everyday look this may not be what you are going for.

If you choose to only use ONE shade, make sure you add more strokes the outer end of your brows. This will give a similar effect!

3. The bottom portion

Sometimes filling in your brows more heavily in the bottom portion of your brow vs the upper portion gives you a more natural look.

This is something you can definitely play with. But if you are going for a more natural look, be very light handed when doing any shading at the top portion of your brow.

Tip 4: Light handed, short strokes

You can try to draw in individual hairs ever so perfectly, but if you don’t have the time, light handed short strokes is the easiest technique that will help you achieve a natural look!

Trip 5: Brush them out!

Use a spooly that comes with most eyebrow pencils to brush out your brows when you are done. This will blend out any harsh parts.

Tip 6: Snatch baby, SNATCH

This is optional but to give a snatched look apply some concealer above and below the brow. This will give your brows a clean look.

You don’t need a whole lot – just a TINY dab. This step will benefit from having a small precise brush, similar to an eyebrow brush!
