Best Lip Glosses for Dry Lips

When I think of lip glosses I am brought back to high school. It’s the first makeup item I wore EVER. Lip glosses and lipsticks – those were the OnLY makeup products I wore in highschool. Later branched to eyeliner in university!
The shades I wore were way too light for my skin tone or just a little lighter than my skin tone. I hated going darker than my skin colour. Obviously, all I could afford in high school were the cheap drugstore lipglosses and back then we didn’t have such a large range of colours as we do now.
I feel like a few years ago matte lipsticks were all the rage, but now glosses are making a comeback!
Here are my current favourites!
Merit Shade Slick Classics Tinted Lip Oil

When I first tried this lip oil I fell in love. First, my chronically dry lips (yes I know I need to drink more water) were immediately moisturized. Not only that, but the shade was a gorgeous everyday pink that was totally my vibe. I know this is a ‘lip oil’ but it looks like a lip gloss with bonus benefits of a lip balm!
Since it’s a lip oil, this isn’t as thick as the traditional lip gloss. Its such a comfortable, thin formulation that is great for everyday.
Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

What I love about this is the smell. It smells like a creamy vanilla. Some people may hate it, but yum, I love it.
I held off on buying this gloss for so long. Let me tell you why- it looked way too glossy and shimmery.
As someone with small lips I didn’t think it would have the same effect it did with the girls i saw on socials. And when I finally ended up getting it, I was right.
It doesn’t make small lips look plump and juicy because my lips are small and thin. And when I first tried this I didn’t really like it either. It’s very much a gloopy gloss, which also didn’t appeal to me at the time.
My current opinion of it has changed. Maybe it’s because I’m trying to enter my ‘hot mom era’ and wearing this gloss makes me feel some sort of way. If you are going to wear a gloss like this, you definitely need to channel your bougie Rihanna self because you will shine just as bright as Rihanna’s diamonds lol. Ok sorry, that was lame, but your lips will definitely shine so you really need to make sure you also match that vibe all around, at least a little bit. Otherwise you may feel the same way about this gloss that I first felt.
Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream

If you are someone who likes a subtle glossy finish with more colour and pigment, this would totally be your jam. I love this because it applies as the perfect pale pink for my skin tone, but still gives a nice glossy look that’s nice for everyday.
I’m trying to branch away from this shade as I’ve had so many different lippies in this shade in the past and for a while it’s the only shade I bought in any brand I could find.
Hey, I love what I love. I’ve since branched off to other shades but I would still wear this every now and then. It’s such a great pink neutral.
Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly Non-Sticky Gloss
I hesitated for months to try this. I first heard of it from Jamie Paige beauty (thanks, girl!). I get so many of my favs through her.
The reason I hesitated was because this gloss reminded me of the typical gloss I would wear in high school that you could find for two bucks back in the day at the drugstore.
The packaging gave off that vibe as well as the swatches and shades. It just looked too ‘milky’. Gloss formulations are such a personal choice. Anyway, I tried it and loved it, especially for the shade.
Could I have found something similar at the drug store? – probably! But I wanted to know what the hype was about. The gloss formulation just makes your lips look smooth. And yes it is ‘milky’.
The colour applies evenly though. And I love this shade as an everyday brown. I love that someone as light skinned as Jamie Paige can wear it and love it. And someone with my deep coloured skin can also wear it and love it as an everyday neutral shade too.
These are my top favs, but I know there are so many others out right now. Let me know your fav glosses in the comments below! I would love to know!
XOXO,
The Blushing B
