7 habits to begin a healthy lifestyle
1. Find forms of self care

There’s so many things you can do to de-stress and take care of yourself.
Do things that make you feel beautiful, dressing up for no reason at all, wearing your fav loungewear, or just brushing your hair for the day are ALL examples of how you can make yourself feel better each day.
There’s NO limits to what you can do for self care. It’s not just limited to lighting candles and meditating. I’ve tried that, and it DIDN’T work for me!
2. Move your body

I’m NOT going to preach about walking 10,000 steps a day.
But exercising does release endorphins that elevate your mood.
Do ANYTHING that YOU enjoy doing. If you can’t spend an hour walking there are so many other alternatives and even 30 minutes of some form activity is enough for you to reap the benefits.
3. Create realistic goals

Don’t tackle too much at once.
It’s easy to make a list of all the things you should be doing to get you to that healthy lifestyle, but often it becomes OVERWHELMING trying to change old habits so quickly and because it feels so difficult, we often give up.
But if you give yourself some grace, little bit little, you can transform your lifestyle even with a busy schedule.
Have you ever decided, “OK, now’s the time I’m going to become the healthiest version of myself. This week I’m going to walk 10,000 steps, have a salad everyday, stay away from donuts and sleep 8+ hours from now!”
Chances are, you were NOT able to stick to such a to-do list because it was such a BIG lifestyle change. If you ended up quickly failing because it just seemed too overwhelming, that’s completely normal.
Make small changes and you will get there. I know we all just want to get there quickly, but a QUICK way is never sustainable.
And if you want to make a lifestyle change you will stick to for a very long time, slow and steady always WINS. If you want more motivation and information read Atomic Habits by James Clear!
4. Relax
Don’t take a list seriously. Sometimes you just need to Netflix and chill and so sometimes you can just do whatever you want! Even if it means one of these habits takes a backseat sometimes. Part of a healthy lifestyle is BALANCE!
5. Make time for friends/family

If you are blessed with a person or people that always improve your mood just being around them, don’t let them go.
Make time for those people weekly, biweekly or even monthly. Hanging out with certain people in my life always leaves me feeling so relaxed afterwards and in a great mood.
Pro tip: Arrange to meet with a friend right before your period! I am definitely more moody when I’m PMSing and being around people that relieve my ridiculous annoyances during that time really helps my mood.
6. Do one thing you enjoy each weekend
Whether it be with your loved ones OR on your own! Go out or stay in and hang out, chill out or have long talks with that close friend. Vent about the week with them.
Have a long walk on your own or just relax at a coffee shop for however long you can spare.
The possibilities are endless. It may seem like a waste of time when you have so much on your plate, but it will help you prevent burnout.
So always make SOME time for yourself and do what you want to do!
7. Learn to love your company

This is so similar to everything else on this list. Learn to love doing things on your own. This may be hard if you’re someone who’s heavily extroverted, but when you stop relying on others to boost your mood all the time, it really benefits your overall lifestyle and mood.
